Cambridge University Students to perform
Shakespeares THE TEMPEST at NSA on September 24
A group of British thespians from Cambridge will visit NSA for three days when they make a stop in Nashville in late September with their production of Shakespeare's final masterpiece THE TEMPEST.
The Cambridge University American Stage Tour (CAST) consists of 16 actors, directors, designers and technicians from the university trained to make Shakespeare fun and accessible. They will be guests of NSA and perform THE TEMPEST on Friday, September 24. The group will stay with NSA families and present Shakespeare workshops for the theatre students during the school day. NSA will host a potluck supper on Thursday, September 23 in the small gym.
This is the third time in four years that the group has chosen to visit NSA. Their Nashville stop is part of a national tour which is in its 10th year. It was founded in 2000 by British actor and director Stephen Fry, an alumnus of Cambridge University.
THE TEMPEST tells the story of the deposed Duke of Milan Prospero, who summons up a storm to shipwreck his usurpers on his island. The audience gets drawn into a world of young love ignited at a glance, bruised egos and damaged pride, a promised liberation soon to be betrayed, and the end of a private empire.
The performance takes place in the NSA auditorium at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 24. It is open to the public. We count on all NSA parents and students to support CAST by coming to see the show – they fund their US-tour entirely through ticket sales. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
